The students of Bolderāja music and art school and artists Elita Vansoviča and Inga Supe will draw on concrete with crayons and create a colourful environment that might last only for a short while.
The artists will adjust to the flow of passers-by and will be dependent on the weather, something that changes as fast as the political and economical situation. The most essential thing according to the initiators of this activity is the present moment, where expressing oneself is important, as is drawing – being present. Not accumulate savings for tomorrow but enjoy the very moment and watch your step carefully. Every passer-by also has a choice – step on it and not notice, or stop and enjoy.
The author of the motto of this year’s White Night, Hardijs Lediņš, was famous for his walking journeys to Bolderāja; now his followers come from Bolderāja to the centre. Almost the whole length of Kr. Barona street will feature a visual story about the Little People that come from Bolderāja. Weird Little People live in Bolderāja, and they do weird things. Watch out, they are right beside us! Watch your step, so that you don’t crush them! Keep your eyes open and you will see the adventures of the Little People! They will speak to those who walk with their heads down and those who stare dreamily out of tram windows, trying to glimpse a miracle on the grey streets.
Everyone walking down Kr. Barona street will have a chance to follow the tracks of the Little People and by carefully following a marked path find a small miracle.
Chief slogans of the Little People:
- Art trampled underfoot! Literally it means drawings on concrete, but the figurative connotation rather accurately states the place for art in the current situation.
- Find your way! Little People mark their path but each passer-by has his/her own choice, whether to walk down a beaten track or, on the contrary, find his/her own way, ignoring the signs.
- Hurry slowly! Do not miss something important and do not trample someone!
