With the White Night 2011 motto Say neither yes nor no, not black not white 67 arts and cultural events throughout Riga, will offer their understanding of the contemporary art.

Most of the White Night projects will take place in the center of Riga and the Old Town. Important art events will be hosted by the VEF enclosures, Spikeri, Andrejsala Kalnciema street, market Vidzeme. The further locations where the art projects will be held, are: Purvciems, next to the Mebelu Nams, Bolderaja, AB dambis, Mukusalas and Torņakalns Church.

During the White Night, there will be two information points – Come in BaloNEriJA, where You will be able to learn all about the project activities, places to get brochures participate in the White Night’s game at 14:00 – 2:00. The information points Come in BaloNEriJA will be located in the square next to the Laima clock and Galleria Riga, 67 Dzirnavu street.

For those, who will be on the way, all the information about the White Night will be provided by the 1188 call center, interactive map, as well as the 1188 White Night Guide on your mobile phone. White Night computerized guide, at the Capital saloon shop, 19 Brivibas boulevard, at 18:00 -1:00 will offer the opportunity to get an insight into the event schedule that will be offered in the saloon’s exposed computers.

This will be the sixth year, when Riga, in the autumn, experiences the White night. The White Night forum is organized by Riga City Council’s Education, Culture and Sports department’s Culture board, in cooperation with the active organizations in Riga, involving Latvian and international artists.
The White Night project is a part of a European capitals’: Brussels, Madrid, Paris, Riga and Rome, joint venture The European White Nights. The White Nights relay has been passed over to Amsterdam, Bucharest, Porto and Valletta (Malta), but beyond Europe’s borders, it is continued in Toronto, Tokyo, Montreal, Chicago and other cities. Riga continues this tradition for the sixth year. Last year, the contemporary art forum The White Night 2010 brought together around 40’000 inhabitants and visitors.
